LinkPen Pals For Education

AN INNOVATIVE WAY TO LEARN ABOUT CULTURE WHILE HELPING CHILDREN & SCHOOLS IN NEED.

Once upon a time when I was a little girl growing up in what I believed to be paradise, i.e, Liberia West Africa, I was introduced to two words I had never heard before, Pen Pals.  Shortly thereafter I was linked with another little girl who lived thousands of miles away in a place called England. I was as EXCITED to learn about her as I was to share everything about me with her.

We immediately began exchanging letters and did so for a while, but our friendship was cut abruptly short when I had to flee my country because of a threatening war.  I’ll leave out all the horribly sad details and the immense heartache I endured following the loss of family members and friends as a result of the war.  However, I can say that I ALWAYS held on tightly to the memory of my pen pal, and vowed that one day I will pay it forward by establishing my own pen pal organization.  I remember hoping that one day my children would get to experience the wonderful benefits of having a harmonious pen pal relationship and that maybe…just maybe, they’ll understand that a letter is MORE than mere words on a paper.   It can leave an imprint on your heart forever.

Having come from humble beginnings, I often find myself feeling a bit of guilt that my life was spared while others ended or were left to struggle.  I feel a sense of responsibility to always help others in need.  For this reason, I felt establishing a pen pal organization would be insufficient without going the extra mile to make an even greater impact on the lives of the children we will encounter.  I’ve always felt and have impressed upon my own children that the best gift you can give to someone is one that requires sacrifice.  This is how we want the world to view LinkPen , as an organization established to connect children as pen pals while also giving back.  It’s not rocket science.  Actually, it’s rather simple… We Care!

At LinkPen, we are driven by a single goal — to make the world a better place for future generations by linking our lives through writing and giving.
